A seed was planted some time ago.
I’d like to start by sharing how the Mind Body Living seed was planted.
For those new to my site, hello! My name is Jess. I am an Occupational Therapist and integrated wellness practitioner helping to bring more calm, courage and self care into the lives of others. This project is very close to my own heart, and has also been inspired by the thousands of patients I have worked with over my years as an occupational therapist. Let me share with you the story of how I came to bring this project to life.
Q. What inspired you to take this journey online?
After many years of working with patients with chronic pain, chronic disease, mental health concerns, post traumatic stress and various physical illnesses, I felt inspired to be able to offer something more. Many patients came to me with multiple health problems, interlaced with a complex system of issues that permeated physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and socially.
I started to notice a pattern. A pattern that disease, pain and ill health were not just stemming from a purely physical source or ‘one single cause that needed to be fixed’. They seemed to be heavily interlaced by a complex and potent undercurrent of less obvious influences. And, I wanted to do more.

Q. What is an Occupational Therapist?
Occupational Therapists are extremely diverse health professionals, with a varied set of training and skills. Our role is not always fully understood, as many people assume we are all about helping people get back to work (occupation). But this is only a small part of what we do.

Q. What is the WHOLE LIFE wellness model?
The WHOLE LIFE wellness model is a foundation that enables meaningful, joyful and purposeful engagement with life, and all the occupations that go along with that.
It includes our physical wellbeing, along with our mental, emotional, spiritual and social health.
It also recognises the importance of rest, and the impact that our environment has on our overall wellbeing.
It recognises that true, sustainable health and wellness needs to encompass a whole-person, whole-life approach.

Q. What is an integrated wellness practitioner?
An integrated wellness practitioner is someone who will support you on your path to wellness, recovery and living a WHOLE LIFE, no matter what challenges you face. I work with people who are ready for change, who are committed to making a difference in their life, and who are seeking to recapture control of how they engage with life.
Q. What does an Integrative Wellness Practitioner do?
An integrative wellness practitioner has a special interest in optimising health, wellbeing and function, in an integrated holistic way.
